Accounting & business advisory · Gold Coast · Australia-wide

You went into business for a reason.

We help you turn that reason into a plan, and keep the business working towards it. Tax, cash flow, structure and risk, looked at together, in your business and beyond it.

Where we start

What do you want your business to make possible?

A sale in five years. More time with your family. A business your children could one day take over. Or an income that gives you more choice.

It is easy for the next job, the next payroll and the next tax deadline to take over. We start by asking what you are working towards. When the answer is clear, the numbers have a job to do.

We help turn that goal into budgets, targets and decisions you can act on. Then we keep coming back to it: what has changed, what is working, and what needs to happen next.

The relationship, in four parts

Byron leads the work from the first discussion through to the advice.

You do not brief one person and receive the answer from another. Tax, cash flow, ownership and risk are considered in the same conversation, with your lawyer or financial adviser brought in where their part is needed.

  1. 01

    Understand the goal.

What you want the business to make possible, including the personal and family context you choose to share.

  2. 02

    Put a plan around it.

The ambition turned into financial targets, budgets, actions and decision points. Assumptions tested, not promised.

  3. 03

    Connect the decisions.

Tax, cash flow, ownership, business and personal risk considered together, with specialist input where it is needed.

  4. 04

    Keep the plan current.

Progress reviewed on the rhythm we agree, and the goals revisited as well as the numbers.

Clear scope. Clear value. Fees agreed before work begins.

What the work looks like

Three decisions, and how we approached them.

Each describes the advice we gave and why it mattered, not a result we promise. The full stories are on the service pages.

Business restructuring

Everything he owned, on the line every working day.

Based on real jobs and typical situations. Names, figures and details changed.

A harvesting contractor was still trading as a sole trader, with the family home, the headers and the tractors all in his own name. Before setting up a company we checked the old file properly, then planned a structure in stages so the machinery, the seasonal crew and the grower contracts each sit where they carry only their own risk. The review also found credits he had never claimed and an error he could fix on his own terms, before anyone came asking.

Business Restructuring & Rollovers

Tax & compliance

GST that had stopped adding up.

Based on real jobs and typical situations. Names, figures and details changed.

A family business run through more than one company had lodged every activity statement on time, yet the ATO balances made no sense to the owners. We rebuilt the open periods against the ledger, the bank and the original invoices, tied every correction to its source document, and set out the effect for each company in one plain-English report. Not every correction went their way, and the report said so. The directors understood their ATO position for the first time in years.

Tax & compliance support

Business advisory

An honest answer first, then a plan for the next two years.

Based on real jobs and typical situations. Names, figures and details changed.

A director wanted to draw a set amount from his company each month and asked how to set up his salary and his wife’s wage to make it work. After staff, running costs, vehicle finance and the company’s tax, the business couldn’t free up that much, and we said so. Then we built a plan around the business he actually has, with every decision for the next two years on one page and the tax worked out before anything is drawn.

Testimonials

What I value about Altiora is the access. I needed a letter for a finance application and Byron had it back the same day. Our company financial statements and tax returns get the same treatment, done properly, no delays, partner-led from start to finish. When I call, I get Byron. That's the difference.

Anthony Lagana · Director · Fibre Network Solutions

We came to Altiora Advisory after a recommendation from a family member, and honestly weren't sure what we needed. Byron walked us through the options without any of the usual jargon, and was upfront about what wasn't worth doing as well as what was. We did a full business restructure that not only simplified things but mitigated business risk and tax. What stood out most was that he actually returned calls and explained things until we understood them, which shouldn't be rare but is. We've since recommended Altiora to a few friends in the same position and would do it again.

What's different about Altiora is who answers the phone. The partner. Every time. When you've got a multi-entity group like ours, that's the whole game.

Stephen Wilson · Director · Shopfit Group

I've referred clients to Altiora Advisory and worked alongside Byron for close to three years. As a fellow accountant, I only send people to firms I'd trust with my own clients, and Altiora is one of them. Byron is technically sharp, straight with people, and genuinely cares about getting the right outcome rather than just ticking a box. Happy to keep referring work their way.

Six years of returns and the ATO breathing down my neck. They had it sorted in a week. Back on swing without the worry, for the first time in a long time.

Personalised advice with more effort into actually understanding my business, I'll never go back to larger firms. Thanks Team Altiora

How it starts

How we get started.

Thirty minutes with Byron, no fee, no obligation. You can start with one question or the whole picture.

  1. 01

    One conversation.

We listen, you talk, and we both decide whether we are the right fit. We ask for the relevant names first so we can check for conflicts before you send detail.

  2. 02

    A short written scope.

One page. What we will do, what is out of scope, what it costs. If the value is not clear to you, we revisit the explanation or the scope, not ask you to take it on faith.

  3. 03

    Onboarding handled by us.

We contact your previous accountant, gather the data and set up the systems. Usually a fortnight.

  4. 04

    A rhythm agreed upfront.

Quarterly check-ins, monthly if you want them. Planning before June, not after. Fees agreed in writing.
