Two handbooks we wrote for our clients.

Now yours. Forty-odd pages each, written in plain English for the people who actually run the file: owners, operators and bookkeepers. Read the first ten pages of each here; tell us where to send the rest.

The Xero Handbook

Set it up well. Run it with confidence. Know when to stop and ask.

A practical Australian reference for business owners who want a Xero file they can understand, operate and trust. What a healthy file looks like, the settings that matter, bank feeds and reconciliation, sales and bills, evidence, payroll and super, and the handful of things to leave alone and ask about: GST, owner money, and anything already in a lodged period.

For owners and team members doing the day-to-day work. Not a substitute for advice on your business.

Fuel Tax Credits Made Clear

Keep the evidence. Understand the use. Claim the right amount.

Eligible fuel, clear records and confident claims, with examples from excavation, earthmoving, civil works, trades and transport. Which vehicle or machine attracts which rate, how to apportion dual-use trucks, what to do with auxiliary equipment, the records that hold up, and printable worksheets your bookkeeper can use each quarter. Every section has an “In plain English” box.

For owners, operators and bookkeepers. It deliberately does not publish a standing rate; check the ATO’s dated rates for each claim.

Both handbooks are general information for Australian businesses, current at their edition date. Your engagement letter and any advice we have given you come first. If something in your file does not fit the handbook, that is usually the moment to ask for the free review.

Why give them away

A well-run file is good for everyone.

We wrote these for our own clients because a file kept well during the year is a file we can review quickly at the end of it, and because most of the expensive mistakes we fix were avoidable with one page of plain instruction at the right moment.

Giving them to people who are not clients costs us nothing and tells you something about how we work. If the handbooks make your bookkeeper’s quarter easier, good. If they make you wonder what a second look at your own file would say, that review is free too.
